.) No one is exactly sure why American Pharoah’s tail was so short. It is speculated that pasture mate Mr.Z chewed it off during their time together at McKathan Brothers Farm.

.) Cotton balls were placed in American Pharoah’s ears before races because the loud noises from crowds caused him to have anxiety in the paddock and therefore act up.

.) American Pharoah is one of only thirteen horses to win the Belmont Stakes from post #5.

.) Victor Espinoza did not use the whip on American Pharoah at all in the Preakness Stakes after facing scrutiny from the amount of times he used the whip in the Kentucky Derby.

.) American Pharoah was pastured next to Thunder Gulch at Ashford Stud until Thunder Gulch passed away in May of 2018. Thunder Gulch had a calming presence on Pharoah.

.) American Pharoah is known for his kind and gentle disposition.

.) American Pharoah’s name was chosen through a social media contest ran by Justin Zayat. It was inspired by his sire Pioneerof The Nile. It is famously misspelled (the “o” and the “a” should be switched).

.) The crowd at the Kentucky Derby upset American Pharoah, even with his earplugs in. It took several grooms to contain him during the walkover and many people feared he had used too much energy on his nerves and would therefore lose the Kentucky Derby (though we all know now that this was not the case).

.) American Pharoah’s first crop of foals are now two-years old and have begun making their debuts.

.) American Pharoah is quite the beauty. Fashion magazine Vogue recognized that and pictured him in their magazine in July of 2015.
